Visiting Ribeira Brava; The banana plantations in Madalena do Mar; Porto Moniz and the volcanic swimming pools; The northwest coast and waterfalls. Drive through the « Laurisilva» (endemic forest of Madeira part of the world patrimony) . Views from Cabo Girão, the highest sea-cliff in Europe and 2nd in the world.
SANTANA (Full day with lunch) - Tuesday to Thursday
Amazing views from the 3rd highest peak in Madeira «Pico Arieiro». Possibility of a short walk (unguided) along one «Levada» – irrigation channel . In Santana visit the typical thatched roofed houses. Beautiful views of the Eagle’s Rock and possibility of a stroll in the gardens of a «Quinta» in Santo da Serra.
COSTA NORTE | GRUTAS (Full day with lunch) - Wednesday to Saturday
Visiting Porto da Cruz and possibility of a walk along the promenade. In São Jorge visit to a traditional water mill (depending on the availability of the miller )and the baroque parish church with beautiful altars in golden carved wood . Admire the beauty of the abrupt cliffs over the road and in São Vicente visit to the volcanic caves and volcanism centre which allows you to understand the formation of the island millions of years ago (entrance included).
EIRA DO SERRADO |ADEGA VINHOS (Half day) - Tuesday to Friday
Amazing Vistas over the Nun’s Valley ; visit to Camara de Lobos the fishing village and harbour. Visit to a wine cellar with a taste of Madeira wine included.
COSTA SUDESTE | CRISTO REI (Half day) - Monday
Visiting the Monument to Christ the King in Garajau; Then to the friendly village of Santa Cruz; Machico the 2nd town where the Portuguese Navigators first landed in 1419; Caniçal the fishing village where in old times the fishing of the whale was the main activity ( did you know that scenes of the film Mobydick were shot in the Atlantic in front of this village) and Ponta de São Lourenço the east end of the island, a contrast in the scenery with fantastic views over the Atlantic ocean and the island of Porto Santo(weather permitting).
NOITE TÍPICA - Tuesday to Thursday
Dinner at a typical Maderian restaurant where the main dish is the Espetada (beef on a skewer spiced and grilled over an open fire) and other delicacies of Maderian cookery. During dinner a folklore group will be dancing and you will be invited to join them on these traditional regional dances.
